Air Show volunteer/training & Gym Day

1. AIR SHOW VOLUNTEERS NEEDED. I am still looking for volunteers to help man our booths for the Air Show during Labor Day weekend. Any help is greatly appreciated.

2. REMINDER: AIR EXPO ‘11 TRAINING. A working group training is scheduled in the base theater on 15AUG (Monday) 2-5pm or 16AUG (Tuesday) 5-8pm or 29AUG (Monday) 2-5pm. If volunteering, please attend this training so we are more flexible in our fundraising efforts.

3. POST AC TRIP. Thanks to those who supported our Atlantic City Trip last Saturday. Special thanks to Nena and crew who made sure all guests were properly fed.

4. GYM DAY / 20AUG / 1PM. Come join me this Saturday in the base gym to play basketball...etc. Too much party...we need to burn those calories.

1. POST PICNIC. Thanks to all that supported yesterday's 4th of July Picnic. Awesome show of camaraderie. Even the weather cooperated. There were lots of help, food, new faces, veteran faces, caught fish, games and fun. Pictures can be viewed at the Yahoo! Groupsite.

2. GUEST LIST. For those who needs base access in our future events, please send me your names now so you can be added to the guest list. The guest list is sent to base security 3 days prior to our event. Those who needs base access and is not in the guest list must be escorted by an active or retired military.

Fiesta; Missing; Father's Day Party & Meeting; Condolence; Congrats

1. POST FIESTA. The Fiesta was a huge success. Thanks to all the guests that attended. Thanks to the dedication of all the volunteers, performers, choreographers, committees, parents, cooks, security, members, sponsors, officers and everybody who helped. 2. MISSING ITEMS. Please call me if you have any info on these missing items. These items are of extreme importance to Vivian and Ate Zeny.

- Zeny Alcantara's purse. A 3"x5" black evening purse with teardrop beads all over. It has a shoulder handle and a ring inside.

- Vivian Russell's "Overloaded" shirt. The blue shirt, as seen on the attachment, is for display only and was borrowed from a friend.

- I am also looking for my black/silver clothes rack and 2 mirrors.

3. FATHER'S DAY "SPORTS" PARTY. This Saturday / 18JUN / 12-5 pm at the Lincoln Center is a party to celebrate father's day. Setup is 9-11 am. This is a potluck so bring your favorite recipes to share. This year's theme is "Sports" so wear your favorite sport's outfit.

4. MOTHER'S AND WIVES MEETING. Exclusively to mother's and wives is a meeting tomorrow / 15JUN / 5 pm at Lorna Homan's house to plan for the incoming father's day program.

5. CONDOLENCE. On Saturday morning, our fiesta decor committee head, Baby Abad received news of her brother's death. She is now in the Philippines with husband Regui. Please include them in your prayers.

(FYI) Francisca of the Sari-Sari Store in Great Mills initiated a donation box.

6. CONGRATS TO GRADS AND AWARD WINNERS. Congratulations to all graduates and award winners. See attachment.

Happy Memorial Day!

May is coming to a close, which means the Fil-Am Fiesta will soon be upon us!

1) There is a Monthly Meeting this Wednesday, June 1, from 6-8pm at the Lexington Park Library. This is a very important meeting prior to the fiesta. All officers, essential personnel, and members are highly encouraged to attend.

2) Saturday, June 4 @ 1pm at the Base Gym is our next Sports Day. Get out there and exercise!

3) Also coming up is the Father's Day "Sports" Party on Saturday, June 18. Details in the flyer below.

Mother's Day Luau / Monthly Meeting

1. MOTHER'S DAY "LUAU" PARTY / 07MAY / 3-8pm / LINCOLN CENTER. This Saturday will be the Mother's Day celebration. See attached flyer for more details. Please BRING A PICTURE OF YOUR WIFE and/or MOM. Mabuhay! SOMD Fil-Am

Once again it's time to start our dance practices for our Fil-Am Fiesta on Friday April 8, 5-8 pm.

We had a lot of calls to sign up for our Fiesta dances & our sign up sheets for Hawaiian Tahitian, Pasadoble, Muslim, Hip-hop & Pandango Sa Ilaw are filled except Tinikling & Sakuting. As we annouced, sign up is on a first come first serve basis. I did my best to give everyone a chance to sign up, we are pleased that many volunteered.

We will be practicing each friday beginning April 8th until June 10, except Friday April 22 due to Solomons camp & May 6 due to library is booked. We'll need to practice on a Sunday that week. Please check out our Lexington Park library schedules & Fil-Am yahoo group. June 11 during the morning will have a dress rehearsal practice at the Hollywood fire department.

We would like everyone to know that due to limited Fil-Am funds, we decided to have POTLUCK PRACTICES. We are asking volunteers to participate if possible, especially all our Board members, performers parents, & friends.

Ideally we would like to have 7 volunteers in turn to bring food for our performers during practices then another different group of 7 volunteers for the following practices & so on. We will have a Potluck sign up sheets at the practices or Please call me if you want to volunteer for any following practices. I can sign you up for another week if your unable. This is a great idea taking turns to bring food for each week, we don't want to end up with lot of food but also have food for our performers & everyone. It's fair for everyone & will not become a burden on anyone as well.

The Following is a list of what is needed for approximately 38-40 kids performers & 10 adults.

4 Volunteers of different main dish
1 Volunteers to bring cokies & dessert
1 Volunteers to bring 7-? sodas
1 Volunteers to bring Rice & chips

Fil-Am will provide utensils, plates, &etc.

So far we do have volunteers to bring for this coming practice on Friday, April 8, (Susana-Pansit,Yvette- Shrimp vegestables, Terry-Bistek, Emily-Spahagetti, Janet-Sodas, Lovely-Cookies & dessert)

Highway Cleanup

The Annual Highway Cleanup is scheduled for this Saturday, March 26th, at 7am. Volunteers are needed to help clean up about a mile of MD-5 from the Brass Rail up to the Shell Gas Station. Certificates of participation will be provided upon request, and the meeting place will be the parking lot near the Brass Rail by the Oriental Store off of MD-5. Rain date will be April 2. Any and all help is appreciated!

Fiesta Dance Practice

All,

The Fil-Am Fiesta is one of the most exciting events of our Fil-Am Association and our goal is to make this event safe and organized as possible. We have reserved the Lexington Park library meeting rooms to hold our practices prior to the fiesta.Please feel free to sign up for dances and show off your dancing abilities and have some fun!

Performers 18 years old & younger are free admission to the Fil-Am Fiesta but adults must pay full ticket price.

We will practice every Friday and our first practice is on April 8 from 5-7pm until Friday, June 10. Please visit our Lexington Park website for our practice reservations.

We would like everybody who would like to dance to show up and sign up for the dances on April 8. (Please contact me if you are unable: Susana Busitzky susana51585@yahoo.com). Valentine's Success & New Exec Bd!

Hello all!

The Valentine's event on Saturday night was a huge success! Pictures from the event have already been uploaded to the Yahoo! groupsite for your viewing pleasure. The River's Edge ballroom was packed with our 210 guests, and everyone had a blast enjoying good company, dinner, and dancing, so much so that the event was extended to 11pm! In addition to the festivities, our 2011 Exec Board was formally introduced, so please give a warm congratulations to our new officers:

My Dear Friends and Families,

First of all, I would like to thank our God Almighty for all the guidance and blessings that He has given this organization and its members during this past year. The valentines party was a huge success that we had to add another hour to accommodate our attendee's craving for dancing. We had guests from different cultures who were impressed by that formal event and because of that, I think that they will join us in our future functions. As I introduced the 2011 Fil-Am Association of SOMD officers last night at our valentines party, I inevitably could not help but think about what an awesome year this organization had and this is due to your overwhelming support. I am humbled by all the positive comments that we've received but the success that we had this year is really a culmination of the previous years efforts and your willingness to be there when needed and I thank you all for that. I also thank the 2010 group of officers who's visions, commitment, and energy were the driving force in the planning and execution of our countless events.

With your help, I think that we have attained the three main goals that I want to accomplish when I took over as the President. We have provided assistance to the needy and done some community service and we currently still have $800 allocated to be given to charity. We have, in no doubt, promoted the Filipino customs and traditions to the community through numerous events like the Fiesta and Filipino cuisine fundraising. And most importantly, to have more family-oriented activities to get not only the parents but the children involved. I also think that we have great success in enticing more Filipino-Americans to come and join us in the group. Now I can say, Mission Accomplished, the helm is now passed on to the 2011 Fil-Am Association of SOMD officers being led by Ramon Tuazon. I ask that you provide our current organization leaders even more support and we are looking forward to an even better year ahead. Thanks again everyone and may God bless us all.

Valentine's Set-Up & Celebration of Life for Ann Kiker

Dear Friends and Families,
The River's Edge will not be open for us to decorate/set up on Saturday morning so the new set up date and time will be the day before, Friday 11 Feb 2011 starting at 5PM. Please stop by then to assist if you're available.
On another note, for those who can attend, there will be a Celebration of Life Reception for Ann Kiker on 12 Feb, 11AM - 1:30PM at Lenny's Restaurant. Ann had been a great supporter of the Fil-Am Association on countless times. Please see email below for more details. Thanks.

As I am sure all of you are aware, we were all VERY shocked to hear of Ann's passing away last Saturday. More and more stories come to the surface every day of ways that Ann affected all the customers in her life - the internal customers (Team members, MWR and Dept. of Navy) as well as the external customers that she affected every day she worked! Ann joined the Department of the Navy MWR Food and Beverage team on March 1, 1993 and made people's dreams come true every time she showed up for work! She met with and conducted hundreds and hundreds of weddings, reunions, showers, brunches, TPS graduations, etc. to make them unique and the best they could be.

Her daughter and son were here at River's Edge a couple days ago and were so happy to see the facility. She had explained the place and showed pictures, but they were SO pleased to see it as they said "how proud she was of River's Edge". Ann was a strong and persistent and passionate manager that wanted the best for everyone. She is already sorely missed and will continue to be.

We are happy to announce that the Fil-Am Association of Southern Maryland will be having a Valentines Party on 12 Feb 2011 at the River's Edge Catering and Conference Center onboard NAS Patuxent River MD from 6PM - 10PM. We invite you to come join us in celebrating this special day with your love ones. There are only 200 seats available and you can call Marlyn (2405381729) or any of the point of contacts listed on the flyer to purchase a ticket.

In conjunction with this event, we would like to conduct a "Coat Drive" for the purpose of collecting old/used coats/jackets to be given to charity on a later date. If you have any old/unwanted coats and jackets that is just taking a space in your closet, please bring them over so we can collect them as you come in to the Valentine's party. We have some unfortunate families/individuals in our community who are in need of these items.

There was a suggestion to have a Valentines Party Coat Check-in Service to be manned by 2 teenagers and will be paid via a tip jar by splitting the collection. If there are 200 attendees and are going to give a dollar each for tip, that's 100 dollars for each teenager, but who gives just $1 now a days? The catch is that they have to provide/rent their own roll-away coat rack/hangers. Please have the first two teenagers contact me at 3012473455 for details and we will consider allocating this service on a first come first serve basis.

Just want to thank everyone who planned, coordinated, and executed the Atlantic City trip. Bus 1 was completely full and Bus 2 had just 3 seats open. I thank everyone who joined us on this trip. Overall it was a great trip, heard about some people who won thousands, wow, I wish I have that kind of luck.

We are again setting up another sports day on 21 August, Saturday at 1pm at the base gym. Please bring someone along with you and let's get fit. A few friends from out of town are coming over to join us that day to play some basketball.

Good Meeting and Weekend

Dear Families and Friends,
We had a good number of members who came down last Saturday for our sports day at the gym. The kids later on enjoyed an hour of bowling as well. Some members suggested that we do this two Saturdays a month instead of once a month. I would like to ask you all to provide me some input on how often you want us to have our sports/fitness gathering.

Due to popular demand, members and officer's who are present last week during our general assembly meeting voted to have another camping night at Solomons on 8-9 October. I'd like to solicit some ideas on different activities that you want to have us do. I'd like to ask for someone to head up a kids corner to specify and centralize an area for the little kids to play. We can put their toys in there, please stencil their names on it, for them to share the fun with their fellow toddlers. A lot in the group can play instruments so we can probably specify a certain time to do some music jamming, we need to inquire if there are any restrictions in noise level so it may be possible to bring our amplifiers as well just like having an outdoor concert. It should be cooler then so hopefully no more bugs. Again, let me know what activities do you want to see us do during that time.

Our costumed-holloween party will be on Saturday, 30 October starting at around 1PM. This is a potluck but Ate Goudy already told us that she will buy the Lechon for us coz it is her _____ty-eighth birthday, she won't say the first few letters, I'm guessing it's "thirty" :-) Thanks for the generousity though. We'll have some programs but we can also bring our kareoke machines to change our activities somewhat.

We would like to ask those who are artistic, not athritic coz I know a lot of us are already having joint pains, to provide a sample design that we can put on our proposed T-shirt/polo and ball caps for the organization. Once we vote on a certain design, we will use it to order T-shirts/polo shirts and ball caps for us to sell it to our members for a minimal price. Please encourage your children to join as well.

We only have two seats available for our Atlantic City trip this Saturday, 14 August so please pass the word around. Again, the bus will be in front of JCPenny at Wildewood shopping center at 6:30AM and we will leave "Promptly" at 7AM "American Time". We will have some people who will show up earlier than that for those who would like to come earlier so we can put them on our first come first serve list if the bus is not yet available. Breakfast with drinks will be provided. The final bus list will be sent out later on this week.

Sports Day, General Assembly Meeting, & Atlantic City Trip

This Saturday, 7Aug 3PM at the base gym, is our first monthly sports/exercise day. Let's take advantage of this time to get fit, play basketball, bowling, or use other equipments.

We will have our General Assembly Meeting this Thursday, 5Aug 6-8PM at the Lexington Park Library. Agenda includes the Atlantic City Trip, Halloween Party, Christmas Party, Caroling, Fil-Am Website, and other related activities so please come and joins us and let your voices be heard. We want your ideas, we need your ideas.

Attached is the final list of our Atlantic City Trip 14 Aug. Please keep in mind on which bus each participant will be riding. Seating is on an first come, first serve basis and you will be occupying the same seat going to and from Atlantic City. The bus will leave exactly at 7AM from Wildewood Shopping Center so please be on time. Breakfast will be provided but feel free to bring supplemental food for your own family.

I am very happy to inform you that we were able to reserve the Hollywood Fire Department Hall for next year's Fiesta in June. This hall holds 720 guests so we will be preparing for a grand celebration next year. I also would like to let you know that there is an airshow scheduled late next year and that we are the first organization to be given a booth so far, actually the organizer gave us two booths. FilAm earned more than two thousand dollars from last year's two day airshow. Between the next year's Fiesta and airshow(if it happens), we expect huge profit which means that we can afford to have more activities and be able to increase our assistance to the community. This will definitely happen with all your support. Our Officers for next year will have their hands full in organizing so many activities and am sure that they will find different ways of helping in our community. This is a very exciting forecast.

Dear Friends and Families,

We had a great scortching weekend at the campsite. Yes it was hot but we all found ways to stay cool and hydrated. First off, I'd like to thank those who help set up and also break down our camping gears, those who help plan and execute as well as to those who help buy all the things that we need for the weekend. But most importantly, thank you for all your support for showing up even if it was hot outside, especially during dinner on Saturday, what an awesome turnout. There were suggestions to do this type of events before fall or during spring breaks so we'll consider that next time. It was nice to see the kids having fun and enjoying each other's company. The leisure passes were utilized to the max. The kayak and paddled boat rides were fun. The basketball game was very challenging especially playing under 108 degrees at 7pm. It was also great to see new faces so we got more new members as well. Thank you all for making it a great weekend. If anyone is missing a lawn chair and a folding stool, please let me know, I have it in my house. Thanks also to those who lend us their equipments. Ramon's generator was very useful in running those multiple electric fans. I think that we were the only ones in Solomons with electric fans running outdoors. You got to do what you got to do, right?

We would like to have our Fil-Am Gym Day every first Saturday of each month starting on August 7 at 3PM. I will reserve one of the indoor basketball court and if we have enough participation, we are allowed to bleed over to the next court to occupy the full court. This is also a good opportunity for our couch potatoes and those who have been wanting to get in shape to use other gym facilities like tread mills, elyptical machines, etc. So let's get in shape as a group. If there are enough aerobics demand then I'll inquire and if needed, Fil-Am will pay for the instructor, I hope that they would do it for free but I think Fil-Am can afford to pay an instructor for an hour or so once a month to conduct aerobics, so let me know if there is a demand for this as well. So get off your couches, get out of your comfort zones and let's all get in shape.

For those of you who are into dancing, there is one coming up Saturday, 31 July, please see attached email from Andrei.

For those of you with school kids, there are discounts for some specific items so please see the back-to-school attachment. Thanks for Ate Baby for sharing this.

The Atlantic City Trip ticket sales is going well. We are now just waiting for a few to make their payments. We still have 8 seats available so let us know. For those who don't plan to gamble at the casinos, I was told that there is a big outlet mall right across the street from the hotel. A lot say that the board walk is nice as well and there are arcades and go carts so tell your fiends to come join us. This trip is for everyone, all ages, and lifestyles.

Camping 23/24/25 July

Dear Friends and Families,
Our camping and sports day for this weekend is going as planned, rain or shine. We will be able to start setting our own tents up at 3PM this coming Friday, 23 July.

Each family will have to bring their own tents, lawn chairs, ,coolers, lanterns, insect repellent, sun block, and if possible tables(we need them to stage our food/gears/etc. Just in case there are high winds, please ensure that you bring and use big stakes to anchor your tents on the ground because the pin stakes that usually comes with the tents probably will not hold.

Fil-Am will be paying for the two-day camp site charge, preparing certain meals and providing water/juices for drinks. If anyone has an extra gazebo, please bring them as well. We ask that you park by the roadside next to campsites 2, 3, and 10.

Here are the dining schedules: (we will ask for some volunteers to cook/prepare during these 4 meals)

Friday dinner 23 July 7PM - Burgers, hot dogs, chips, hot links
Saturday Brunch 24 July 9:30AM - 11:30AM - Rice, scrambled eggs, sausage, bread, coffee, fruits.
Saturday Dinner 24 July 7PM - corn, rice, 1 bushel crabs, dinuguan, BBQ chicken and steaks.
Sunday Breakfast 25 July 8AM - Donuts, coffee, milk, juice

*Note: This is what the organization is paying for so please bring any supplemental food for your own family as you wish. Also feel free to add some of your special culinary recipes to the food line up if desired. You can also bring your favorite drinks, liquor(none on glass bottles so please be creative). Bring your mahjong tables. An electric generator will be provided and used during specific times only.

After brunch on Saturday, we will start our sports day. Activities that was brought up were basketball (3-men team all ages), tug of war, kayak race, volleyball, dodge ball, and kite flying (bring your own kites, buy them at Michael's for $2 each). We will be forming up teams starting on Friday night and on to Saturday morning during brunch. Non-participants should be there to cheer for your favorite teams. As suggested, there will be an awards ceremony right before dinner on Saturday. The minimum price for the first price winners will be "head-in-line" privilege when dinner is served.

We were given 30 free leisure passes for use during our stay there. This means that only 30 persons can simultaneously use it. With that being said, we will be setting up a sign up sheet to schedule who would have these passes at specific time frames so please make sure that you turn your passes in when your time is up, because someone else on the schedule will need to use it as well. If anyone don't have the time to wait for these passes to become available, you can also buy them at Solomon's.

This is going to be an exciting and fun-filled family get together so come on and bring your families and friends this weekend. See you all on Friday night.

Fil-Am Camping and Sports Day

My Dear Families and Friends,

I would like to inform you all that we had a very fruitful meeting yesterday but first, thanks to Joe Aguinaldo for letting us use his conference room once again. Let me start with the closest schedule at hand.

On 23, 24, 25 July (next week) we will have a Fil-Am Camping and Sports Day at the Solomons Recreational Facility. We reserved Group Sites 2, 3, and 10 located north west of the main gate. Site fee and food to be paid by the organization. Gina Quizon is in charge of the food preparation. We will be identifying who will be cooking each meal so please get with Gina so we can organize this task, that way we can identify the rotation. Remember, we will be having dinner starting on Friday and so forth and so on. You can also bring in your favorite dish that we can cook, we'll just put them in a cooler or some sort prior to cooking. We will be having a basketball tournament on Saturday, 24 July, so form up a team of three and give their names to my son Marc, ensure to name your own team. We are still soliciting name of games from the kids that they want to play but there are plenty of things to do there. Marc, Marielle, Brian, Leeroy, Gino, and other kids, come up with ideas of what you want to do. Oldies, bring your mahjong tables, liquors are allowed, not on bottles. Bring your own tents, rest rooms and shower rooms are next to our reserved site. Just show up as early as Friday evening. I cut and paste more details of info that Ramon got for us.

Here's what we have:

- Groupsite #2, #3 and #10 are reserved from 7/23 2:30PM - 7/25 2PM ($390)
- Centrally located near comfort station, pool, beach, playground, biking, jogging and nature trail; tennis, basketball and volleyball courts; soccer field, mini-golf, driving range, Adventure Zone Rec Center...etc.
- A groupsite can fit 10 tents so 30 total
- A groupsite includes 10 leisure passes so 30 total; $5 extra per leisure pass
- Leisure passes can be used for swimming, mini-golf, rec center...etc.
- Kayak is about $6 hourly; bike rental is about $7 hourly / $30 daily; driving range golf ball baskets are about $3 each.
- Liquor is permitted. Bottles not allowed.
- Generator okay

Atlantic City Trip - we now have 17 seats available so let us know if there is someone else wanting to come with us. One thing I guarantee you all is that "BOTH BUSES ARE GOING" whether they are full or not so dont be alarmed if we have these much open seats but I am still hoping that we can fill them up. A reminder that we will not refund your payment after 1 August as we have to commit to the bus company. Bus will leave EXACTLY at 7AM on 14 August. If your ticket still says 8AM departure, that is the Old time.

Christmas Caroling - we want to start practicing as early as September for the Christmas caroling, reason being, we want to be able to memorize and sing the songs without any notes, please contact Ate Lorna if you want to join the Choir, kids are welcome to join as well.

There is a plan to have a Holloween Potluck with costume on 30 October. More to come on this.

A suggestion to have a once a month basketball game for both kids and oldies at the base gym. I inquired and found out that we can reserve 1/2 court but we can bleed over to the next half once we have enough teams. I am soliciting for suggestions on what day we want to do this, on a Saturday, or a specified weekday? Please let me know and provide suggestions.

We cannot sit around, We WILL NOT sit around. Let's get busy!!!

Father's Day Safari Theme and Recipe Contest(for local newspaper)

Dear Friends and Families,

Since our Father's day celebration will be a potluck, we will have a contest and will vote on who's got the best recipe. The winner may have a chance to talk about their recipe to be placed on the column of the Enterprise, a local newspaper, so be ready to describe what the recipe is and what it means to you. Fil-Am will have bbq sticks and some ice cream.

The venue will be at Bldg 401, next to the base chapel. Coming from Gate 2, go straight about 1/4 mile going past the first stop light and the building will be on your left side. If you got to McDonalds, you have gone past by it already and need to turn back around.

If there are anyone who needs base access, I need to know their names by tomorrow so I can give the list to base security. Tomorrow is the latest day I am required to provide them the list for Saturday's event, otherwise, you have to wait at the gate to get a sponsor prior to being allowed in on base. Remember to wear your safari attire. Thanks again.

My Dear Families and Friends,

I would like to extend my heart-felt thanks to all of you for your support to our fiesta. It was a very successful event and this only became possible due to your unfailing support. Thank you to all the dancers, what a wonderful performance you provided, your months of practice led to an awesome outcome. Thanks as well, to all the dance instructors for without you, this wouldn't have been possible. Thanks to those who worked in the kitchen for ensuring that we have ample food supply, I know it was hot in there but you kept replenishing our food line, thank you. Thank you to all the price donors, there were so many of them. Thank you to all who came early to help set up and stayed late for clean up. Thank you to the numerous coordinators for great planning and execution, everything went well. And last but certainly not the least, thank you all for bringing in with you your families and friends to join us in our festivities. Thank you.

A reminder that our Father's Day Pot Luck is on June 19, next Saturday, 11AM-4PM, Building 401 next to the base chapel. The Moms now are saying that we are in for a real treat, I don't know if that means we will have lots of FOOD, but we shall see. So come on and join us in honoring the Dads, soon to be Dads, and those planning to be Dads. Please see attached flyer.

Another reminder of our incoming Atlantic City trip, 14 August. We only have 11 seats left. Just to clarify, you can reserve a seat and can still back out until August 1st. Tickets must be paid by August 1st so you don't have to pay to reserve a seat until then, but there will be no refund after this day, August 1st, because we have to complete the reservation for the bus that day. After we get a final count, we will be finalizing the list of bus occupants. Once we know who's riding on which bus, seating is on a First-Come, First Serve basis to be fair to everyone.

Dear Friends and Families,
I just want to remind everyone that our scheduled highway clean-up is this coming Saturday, 29 May 2010 starting at 7AM meeting at the Brass Rail parking lot next the baseball field. Brass Rail is located at the corner of MD 5 and Indian Bridge Rd (MD 471). Right afterwards, Fil-Am will pay for the minimum cost of breakfast at IHOP for the volunteers. I can also provide volunteer certificates to school kids needing proof of community service.

Another thing about the Atlantic City trip. Ate Nena so far was able to get us a $20 rebate at the casino for adult participants. I have seven people paid for their seats already. I am collecting the payments now so let me know if you would like to pay now and so maybe we can meet somewhere.

Hello all!
It has been several months since I've updated the Fil-Am website, & I do apologize. Such is the busy life of a college student.

Now that it's summer, I intend to keep the website more up-to-date and accessible to others so that other members can upload pictures and add news on this blog as well.

Recent events:

May 1 & 15, we had two Food Sale fundraisers at the Pax River Base, & both were hugely successful. Half of the proceeds were donated to charity.

May 8 was the Mother's Day Luau, which was also a lot of fun, and a great way to show appreciation for the mothers in the Fil-Am community.

Upcoming events:

On June 12 we will be having our third annual Fil-Am Fiesta at the IHM Social Hall, beginning at 6pm. Unfortunately, tickets are already SOLD OUT at this point.

Saturday, August 14 is the Atlantic City Trip. $40/person and up to $25 of rebate from the casinos for those who are on gambling age; 54 seats per bus and we're trying to fill up a second bus if the demand is there, so please sign up early.
